Country Houses Foundation The Country Houses Foundation is a charitable grant giving foundation. The main aims of the Foundation are to support the preservation of buildings of historic or architectural significance in England together with their gardens and grounds, for the public benefit. Unfortunately churches are not supported. Trustees meet quarterly to assess applications . Entrust Entrust (Environmental Trust Scheme Regulatory Body Ltd) is the regulatory body appointed by HM Customs and Excise under The Landfill Tax Regulations 1996 to co-ordinate the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme. Under this Scheme, environmental organisations in the vicinity (usually within 10 miles) of a landfill site can apply for a contribution from a landfill operator towards the cost of the repair, maintenance or restoration of a building or other structure of religious worship, or of historical or architectural importance. Funding is provided on an entirely voluntary basis by a landfill operator in lieu of paying tax.

Fáilte Ireland - Heritage Fund Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development Authority for Ireland, was formed in 2003 to increase the contribution of tourism to the economy by facilitating the development of a competitive and profitable tourism industry. The body operates two heritage grant programs: the Heritage Fund which is designed to support small-scale projects (i.e. less than €200,000); and the Upgrade of Existing Visitor Attractions program for projects of €250k+. The Heritage Fund provides up to 80% funding for restoration/preservation works and other capital works that would enhance the visitor experience (so general presentation, orientation and interpretation works could all qualify). Rosemary Cramp Fund The Fund was set up on the retirement of Professor Rosemary Cramp from the Chair of Archaeology at Durham University, to honour her many achievements and contributions to archaeology and heritage. The fund makes grants to individuals and organisations that put forward projects which fall within its scope; and where there is a strong emphasis on innovation. The main area of interest of the fund is the archaeology and heritage of the British Isles, with a particular emphasis on Northern Britain between 400 and 1100 AD. Proposals to assist student research projects are especially welcome, though organisations and other individuals are also encouraged to apply. Student tuition fees and ongoing subsistence costs are not eligible for support, nor will archaeological excavation normally be eligible. Maximum grants are approximately £500.
Royal Archaeological Institute Covers all aspects of archaeology, architecture and landscape history of the British Isles. It also publishes an annual journal 'The Archaeological Journal' and organises monthly lectures, meetings and seminars as well as encouraging and supporting research by annual grant giving.

The Pilgrim Trust The Pilgrim Trust gives grants for: Preservation of and repairs to historic buildings and architectural features - special consideration is given to projects that give new use to buildings of out-standing architectural or historic importance; Conservation of monuments or structures that are important to their surrounding, including buildings designed for public performance; Places of Worship: a block grant is made to the Historic Churches Preservation Trust, the Council for the Care of Churches and the Scottish Churches Architectural Heritage Trust. The Trust does not normally make grants direct to historic churches, other than in Northern Ireland. Membership is by election only. Grants are only made for conservation or restoration and not for new work.
The Zibby Garnett Travelling Fellowship The fellowship provides grants for short study trips abroad, granted annually to students of conservation in the United Kingdom, whether they are at university or college, or within the formative years of their careers. Trade apprentices, trainee architects and landscape architects are all eligible. The emphasis is on practical work in preference to pure study/research. The Fellowship aims to encourage individual initiative, not to fund groups of students making joint study trips. The awards are not restricted to British nationals, but foreign students should plan projects outside their country of origin. To be eligible, applicants must be working in one of the following conservation subjects: (a.) historic buildings, gardens and landscape; (b.) the traditional building trades; (c.) artefacts; (d.) historic and decorative crafts.

Torch Trophy Trust Bursaries The aim of the Bursaries is to help volunteers to improve their skills as coaches or officials. The Bursaries provide financial support for those wishing to undertake training. All those associated with the Trust are committed to its aims to recognise the `unsung heroes' and to enable individuals to participate and develop their talents in their chosen activity.
Traditional Building Skills Bursary Scheme The Traditional Building Skills Bursary Scheme was established to address the heritage sector skills shortage. It is run in partnership with English Heritage, the National Trust, Cadw, Construction-Skills and the National Heritage Training Group. The scheme is £1.7 m, being largely funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (£1,400,000). The scheme organises and funds work-based training placements for individuals who want to develop building skills within the built heritage sector and can help them to gain NVQ Heritage Skills level 3 . Opportunities are available for those already working in the construction industry and career changers. The main skills that the bursaries are aimed at include brickwork, blacksmith, carpentry and joinery, fibrous plaster, lime plaster, stone masonry, leadwork, painting and decorating, stone roofing and thatching. Placements can last from one to 12 months and are funded up to £15,000 per year, pro rata. The bursaries operate as work based training placements at a variety of contractors, sole traders and heritage sites, including those of National Trust, English Heritage and Cadw. Bursary placements are regularly advertised on the Scheme's website.

World Monuments Fund in Britain The World Monuments Fund in Britain is a non-governmental organisation that works to secure the future of exceptional works of architecture through fundraising, conservation management, education, advocacy and partnership building. We are currently involved in a number of national and international projects, including conservation of the John Cheere sculptures at Queluz in Portugal, conservation of temples at Angkor in Cambodia, and conservation of Horace Walpole’s Strawberry Hill in Twickenham.
